School will be open as usual this morning.

Children should wear warm clothes and sensible footwear, uniform or mufti whatever you think best.

Although main roads look clear please take extra care on the smaller roads, especially Chiltern Road and, as always, drive considerately and slowly.

We look forward to seeing you in school.

It seems as though the last of the bad weather has finished for the time being, so school will be open as usual tomorrow. Should there be a sudden change overnight details of any closure will be posted on this website.

Providing there is still sufficient snow we would like to hold a snowman competition so the children should come with wellies, warm coats, hats, scarves and gloves.

Chiltern Road is unlikely to have been cleared so please take extra care and drive slowly and considerately if you have to come by car.

RBWM Writing Competition 2012

Once again Oldfield are taking part in the annual RBWM Writing Competition. This year children in both Year 5 and Year 6 have written stories, these have been judged and the winner is Shreya Mistry in Year 5.

Shreya’s story entitled “The Bag” will now be submitted to RBWM as the Oldfield entry, well done Shreya and good luck!

Keystage 1 nativity is now live!

This year on Tuesday AND Wednesday, Keystage 1 and reception performed The Bossy King to 2 packed houses.

Huge thanks should go to all the staff involved in putting together such a wonderful production, again.

School Carol concert

Oldfield held their annual carol concert last night, with the Salvation Army hosting a sell-out crowd.

New to the event this year were some solo buglers from the school and the rather wonderful school choir who sang a brilliant arrangement as conducted by Miss Parfitt. The piano was played by Sarah Swain and it was a real crowd pleaser.

Special mention really ought to go to Matthew Copeman, the sole boy in the choir, alongside a dozen female compatriots. No doubt he will look back on this and smile…

County Cup Football Report

On Thursday 17^th November the Oldfield football team went to Harmanswater Primary School in Bracknell for the first round of the County competition.

Here is a report on the match written by Ben Fortuin and Samuel Phelps.

In the first half we went 1:0 down. We battled hard and found a goal in the last minutes of the half but sadly they came back and were winning 2:1 at the interval. We were playing better football on the day and Mr Jarrett told us to be patient, he was right, we battled and played great football.

The final result was that we won 4:2, well done to the team, great football.

To me the man of the match was Samuel Phelps for scoring 2 great goals and playing his heart out. Well done.

We have our second match at home, this Thursday 24^th November against Willowbank School from Woodley, Reading.

Sports Roundup

It has been a busy time for sport over the last few weeks with football, netball and hockey competitions. All the results can been found on our most recent newsletter but special mention must go to the hockey team who won the Ascot and Maidenhead Festival. They won a very close and exciting final beating St Edmund Campion by 2 goals to 1. The team now progress to the County Finals next year.

End of term performance (Keystage 1)

Another year, another performance, and what a performance it was.

Having personally experienced Adrian’s (sp?) talents at Dads in School day, I already had an idea what the Keystage 1 performance would look like, however watching 100 children under his spell, was quite amazing.

A truly inspirational teacher, a truly inspired group of children, and a bunch of very smiley mums and dads…
