Year 6 Poems
The Night
As the sun retires, the moon wakes.
Night takes over.
He yawns wearily and stretches over the sleeping earth.
The beautiful moon chuckles and gossips with the stars.
Spindly trees reach out to the sky, their fingers gnarled and thin.
Bats dart through the chill breeze and foxes prowl below.
Mist slithers cunningly through the forest, causing the trees to shiver as he passes.
The wind swoops over the meadow, whispering secrets to the flowers.
Cats creep cautiously towards timid mice and shooting stars whiz aimlessly through the black sky.
Gradually, the sun wakes up and beckons to the moon.
They swap places and another day begins…
